Work From Home Stories

Lynne Klippel, owner and President of Maximal Potential Developmental Services, Inc, may be inspired by others but she too is quite an inspiration.

Corporate stress and downsizing led Lynne to start her own business as a career and life coach in 2002. “I was determined to control my own destiny in the future.

I loved the idea of no more boring staff meetings and having control of my own schedule. Plus, I really liked being in charge!” says Lynne.

Lynne credits self publishing a book in 2003 to the growth and development of the substantial company that she runs today. With the success of her self published book, friends and associates began seeking her advice on the business of self publishing.

This opportunity to guide others helped Lynne’s business evolve into a full fledged publishing house and information product business. She also offers coaching and consultation for coaches, consultants, speakers, and entrepreneurs who want to write books to build their business.

Lynne’s expertise doesn’t stop there. She also hosts Web Sorority Talk Radio- an internet radio show that provides support, information, and inspiration for women.

“Most of my guests are authors or internet business owners. They are all fascinating and tell great stories that empower listeners to reach for their dreams personally and professionally.”

Lynne doesn’t just find inspiration from her guests. She has a life full of inspiring and supportive friends, family and associates.

“So many women have inspired me and helped me: Andrea Lee, Barbara Drazga, Terri Levine, Sharon Wilson, Lorrie Morgan-Ferrero, Alexandria Brown, Alice Seba, Kelly McCausey, Lynne Pierce, Jeanette Cates, Rhea Perry.......I could list many more names.

One of my favorite things about this industry is the way that women support each other, share information, and truly want to see each other succeed.”

One of the benefits that Lynne finds from being a WAHM is the ability to work, and be inspired by, her family. “My husband is my business partner and we balance each other very well. I'm strong in networking and speaking, he loves computers and accounting. We never run out of things to talk about and enjoy planning our business and lives together.”

Lynne tells other WAHM that her secret to successfully balancing motherhood and working from home is the ability to create her business her way, the way that suits her family. She advises other WAHM seeking balance to “Be willing to look for creative solutions for the things that you don't have time to do.”

Lynne has been very creative, and industrious, in creating a system that works for her family. “My family has gotten pretty non-traditional. My husband cooks during the week, my sons clean, and I go out in the world and make money. I never planned it that way, I love to cook, but it works out better for us that way.

If you are willing to ask for help when you need it and find new solutions to old problems, lots of great things can happen. I also try to hire my sons to do work whenever I can. One son does mailings for me and another is learning graphic design so he can work for me. This gives them an introduction to the real world, the opportunity to contribute in a meaningful way, and helps them learn a good work ethic.”

Getting your children to work for you? Lynne, truly is an inspiration!

Lynne advises women just starting out with their own business or women that are exploring the prospect of working from home, to not quit their day job. “Start slowly while you are still working your day job,” says Lynne. “Create long term goals that thrill you so that your business becomes more fun than watching TV or other hobbies.”

Networking is also a crucial step in becoming a successful WAHM. Lynne recommends WAHMs meet as many people as they can. “Form strong relationships and always offer to help others. I find that attending seminars, local networking groups, and participating in teleclasses is a great way to do this and have fun.”

Lastly, it helps WAHMs to be inspired. “One of the best projects I did to learn the ropes was to interview 26 successful women with Internet Businesses. I learned so much from them. I believe that if one woman can do it, we all can, so I surround myself with role models who inspire me. There are many wonderful women online who can inspire you too.”

Just like you, Lynne – thanks for the inspiration!
